The Ruby Slipper Cafe
I was excited to try out the new brunch spot in Destin. After all, breakfast is one of my favorite meals any time of the day. Judging from the continuous line out the Donut Hole door and the waiting list at Another Broken Egg, Destin could use another delicious brunch spot. I was eager to find out if it is as good as the others.
My husband and I went on a Sunday during summer around noon. It was crowded but because of ample seating we got right in. The server although busy was extremely attentive, never letting our drinks get even close to empty.
The menu offered a variety of breakfast foods such as Biscuits & Gravy, Shrimp & Grits, Eggs & Omelets, as well as Pancakes and French Toast in an assortment of flavors. I ordered the Avocado Toast. A delicious blend of avocado, Pico de Gallo, flash fried capers, and garlic goat cheese served on multigrain toast with a perfectly poached egg sitting on top. My husband ordered The Three Little Pigs Omelet with applewood smoked bacon, ham, and sausage. Both were delicious!
Of course, brunch without cocktails is sadly just breakfast so we took advantage of the Mimosa Flight and the award-winning Bloody Mary. Four sparkling white wines with seasonal flavors where served. I’m not a fan of Bloody Marys’ but my husband said it was one of the best he’s had. Unlike many brunch spots that give you just two options for cocktails, The Ruby Slipper had a diverse menu with fun adult beverages I’ll be sure to try next time.
The Ruby Slipper is located at 34902 Emerald Coast Parkway taking over the old Graffiti’s location. Overall, the service was great and the food delicious. We will definitely be back making The Ruby Slipper one of our favorite brunch spots in Destin.
