Sunset Bay Café

OutSunset Bay Café is one of my favorite places in Destin for breakfast and brunch. Since I work out at the Sandestin Fitness Center, which is located right above the restaurant, I pass this café quite frequently. The aromas of fresh ground coffee, sizzling bacon, and French toast are heavenly. It would be a lie to say that I never think about skipping the workout and eating breakfast instead. However, I stick to my routine and reward myself every now and again to breakfast or brunch at this delicious spot.

The restaurant offers a casual dining experience with both indoor and outdoor seating. The Café overlooks the Choctawhatchee Bay so you will have incredible views both indoors and out. It is family owned and operated so the service is always spectacular. Open for breakfast and lunch, Sunset Bay Café serves the finest of locally sourced ingredients making its dishes deliciously consistent.

The menu offers everything you’d want for brunch. Here are a few of my favorites! When dining with others I highly suggest starting off with an order of Beignets with raspberry sauce for the table. If you are still in the mood for something sweet the Banana Brulee is a dream come true. Your choice of waffles or French toast topped with whipped cream, spiced pecans, caramelized bananas, powdered sugar, and Grand Marnier maple syrup. If you prefer something savory the Bayside Benedict is off the charts. Crab cakes, poached eggs, English muffin, Old Bay Hollandaise sauce, sprinkled with chives. Add a side of bacon to make it the chef’s kiss!

There are many delicious healthy items on the menu as well, especially if you’re coming from a workout. My go to is the Veggie Omelet. I know it sounds blah, but when you combine eggs, avocado, tomato, fresh spinach, bell peppers, onions, goat cheese, and fresh basil in omelet form you get pure yumminess. The lunch menu includes a variety of healthy salads as well as sandwiches, burgers, tacos, and more! Of course, the menu also includes Bloody Marys’ and Mimosas because we all know without these two beverages it’s not brunch it’s just breakfast.

Sunset Bay Café is located near the Linkside Conference Center on the bayside of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort. Open daily for breakfast and lunch from 8:00am-2:00pm. When looking for a place to brunch or have a good old fashion healthy breakfast with a beautiful view of the bay this is the place you want to be!
