Destin Brewery
Destin has a Brewery? That’s exactly what I asked after ordering an East Pass IPA from a restaurant on the harbor. It was delicious so I decided to pop in and check this place out.
It’s a hidden gem and I do mean hidden! I must have passed the brewery’s location several times. Finally, patrons relaxing under big white tents with beer caught my eye and I knew this must be the place. Destin Brewery is located at 505 Mountain Drive which runs parallel to highway 98 in the warehouse district. Don’t blink or you’ll miss it!
First Impression
My first impression was Destin has its very own neighborhood “Cheers”! This is definitely a locals’ spot. Everyone seems to know everyone and if they don’t know you, they will by the time you leave. Super friendly staff and equally friendly patrons. I could hang out here every day. Now time for a beer.
There was a good selection to choose from so I decided to do a flight of 4. I chose Mango Habanero IPA, Blood Orange Blonde, Beeliner Sour, and Bridge Rubble Double, which came highly recommended by staff. A friendly beertender delivered 4 (5 ounce) cups filled to the rim with labels on each one so I’d know what I was drinking. All the beers were very flavorful. My favorite being the Mango Habanero, fruit forward with just a little heat at the end.
More Than Beer
While I was there, I had to get a taste of the new venture for Destin Brewery, Hard Seltzers. They had two on draft; Lavender Mojito and I’m Your Huckleberry. Which, by the way, took home a Gold and Bronze Medal at the New York International Beer Festival! Both were delicious and I was happy to learn I can get them in six packs at my local grocery store. With under 100 calories, 2 grams of carbs, and 1 gram of sugar I have now found my new weekend beach drink!
Here’s a little history on Destin Brewery. Family owned and operated; the brewery began the summer of 2015 with a couple of beers to go into distribution. In the summer of 2016, the taproom was open and quickly became a gathering place for friends and family. To date Destin Brewery is distributed locally from Panama City to Pensacola in over 400 restaurants, package stores, gas stations, and grocery stores.
If you have not tasted a Destin Brewery beer, ask for Destin Ale, East Pass IPA, Bridge Rubble Double IPA, or Emerald Coast Ultra Blonde next time you’re out. These flagship beers are available in most local restaurants as well as package stores. A trip to the brewery’s taproom room is a must. You’ll not only try delicious pilot batches reserved for patrons, but you’ll also get the full experience. Destin Brewery: where visitors come to feel like locals and locals come because it feels like home!
Locals' Tip
While they only offer their flagship beers in cans, you can get anything on draft (including small batch beers) in a Growler or Crowler! Stop in on Tuesdays for the best to-go special: purchase two Crowlers and get a third for $2.
