Visiting Destin with Kids
Spring Break isn’t all about the college kids. Many families will be traveling this spring season to take advantage of the school break. Destin has plenty to offer people of all ages and that includes our little ones. If you are headed to the coast, here are some pointers for bringing the kids.
No need to pack the car with ALL your baby essentials. Crib Connection has you covered with a variety of rentals including crib, high chair, pack n play, and car seat. Kudos to the people who came up with this company. Once you pack all your baby equipment, there’s no room left for luggage so it’s nice to know they can deliver it when you arrive. Speaking of equipment, there are beach stores all along Highway 98 where you can purchase everything from floaties and boogie boards to goggles and sand toys. Traveling with kids, you’re bound to forget something but you can grab what you need once you get here.
What is there to do besides the beach? Kids love the fountains at Destin Commons shopping center. Bring extra clothes and make yourself comfortable because running through the water never gets old for children. The fountains are right next to a playground as well if you get tired of the wardrobe changes. There’s also a train they can ride around the mall which is usually a big hit. The Track is a great place for some adventure as they have bumper boats, miniature golf, go-karts, and an arcade. On Sundays during the month of March (and select other times during the year), Baytowne Wharf plays outdoor movies at the Events Plaza Lawn. Grab a chair or blanket and some snacks to enjoy a family movie under the stars.
When browsing Destin condos to book, you can find many that include a swimming pool, an entertainment room, or tennis courts. Several homes feature bunk beds where you can keep the kids together or even multi-levels if you want to keep them separate. You can also find a variety of homes right on the beach which makes your job A LOT easier when the kids want to go back and forth all day.
While we can’t help you out with the road trip part, there’s no need to worry once you get here. Once you settle in, it’s time to relax! Whether it’s sunny or cloudy, chilly or steaming hot, kids can entertain themselves for hours at the beach. What better beach is there to be stuck at than the gorgeous beaches of Northwest Florida?
