Liquid Sand Now Available on 30A
Glass artistry is something pretty familiar to the Emerald Coast. Beautiful pieces are seen in homes and businesses all around Destin, Florida. It’s not as common to meet the artists behind these popular creations. We were able to talk to Brit Deslonde, the owner of Liquid Sand, at Mattie Kelly’s Festival of the Arts last month. This was her first time as an artist at the local festival and her setup was quite popular with her glass sculptures on display. The first thing to catch your eye was most likely the incredible glass waterfall sculpture. The 8’5” sculpture has cascading glass drops, each hand sculpted and meticulously arranged. Brit says this piece took about a year to complete and had a hard time pricing it since by now, it felt like family! The piece is designed to have lighting in the driftwood to highlight each part of the waterfall and splash making it a truly spectacular work of art.
Liquid Sand has a variety of blown glass pieces available online as well as at a new gallery in Gulf Place on 30A. Gorgeous chandeliers, adorable little crab and turtle creations, and hanging terrariums can be purchased or custom ordered. Brit also specializes in wedding work such as unique bridal hair pieces, wedding favors, sculpted boutonnieres and our favorite: amazing glass bouquets! She has been the perfect addition to the Artists of Gulf Place and you can meet her in her gallery, even demonstrating the glassblowing process on select dates during the month.
Besides remarkable talent, Brit is a pleasure to talk to and loves sharing her work and visions as well as getting ideas from others. Check out her gallery on 30A or see what’s available at Liquid Sand. We can’t wait to see what she creates next!
