Exciting News from VPS and Allegiant
We all love it when traveling gets a little easier. Sometimes we get stuck in the same place, same routine, because we can’t seem to save up the funds to take the vacation we want. Well, dream no more. Allegiant Air and VPS airport (Fort Walton Beach, FL) released a major announcement this week and it looks like there is something for everyone who wants to get out of Destin or visit the Emerald Coast.
Unveiling the largest single expansion into Florida in Allegiant’s history, it was announced (and streamed live!) that 11 cities were added to the nonstop service out of VPS. 11 cities! With fares starting at $42 up to $69, these new routes are actually within the average person’s budget! The cities that have been added are: Kansas City, MO, Austin, TX, Cleveland, OH, Louisville, KY, Peoria, IL, Columbus, OH, Springfield, MO, Indianapolis, IN, Pittsburgh, PA, Washington D.C, and Newark, NJ. All begin in May with the exception of Newark which will be in early June.
Last year, Allegiant made its way into our hearts with their first unveiling of 3 new cities and 22 new routes. Introductory fares started at $39 and they said if the flights were a hit, they would add more for 2017. We took them up on this and flew directly from VPS to Knoxville, TN. There were no complications, the flight was less than an hour, the plane was roomy, and the employees were quite friendly and accommodating. Some people may wonder if they get you with extra taxes and bag fees so it ends up costing the same as other airlines. This flight including bags roundtrip was around $180. Saving me 16 hours of driving there and back was priceless.
Allegiant Chief Operating Officer, Jude Bricker, says, “We are pleased to bring more convenient, low-cost travel options to more communities.” The airline offers options to travelers with low base fares and savings on rental cars, hotels, and activity and attraction tickets so you can book your entire Destin vacation (or elsewhere) for less.Thank you Allegiant!
