Destin Commons Expansion: Fast Facts
We were all excited to hear the news about our favorite shopping center, the Destin Commons, expanding this summer. When the “H&M Coming Summer 2014” sign went up out front, word spread fast and people across the Panhandle have been counting down the days until opening. The globally popular retail store is known for fashion-forward apparel at amazing prices. The two story location in Atlanta has been as much a vacation staple as the alluring IKEA. By the end of summer, we’ll have our very own. But inquiring minds are dying to know what else will be included in the expansion. We’ve heard the rumors: Cheesecake Factory, Chipotle, an arcade…so what’s fact? Keep reading!
Cheesecake Factory is a no go. We already have TGIFriday’s and Applebee’s so do we really need more restaurants that boast appetizers at 2,000 calories? This is a beach community! Chipotle Mexican Grill IS coming though, thankfully. Known for their menu of “food with integrity”, the wildly popular chain is highly respected for their natural ingredients, fresh cooking, and special dietary considerations. Who doesn’t love environmentally friendly Mexican food?
Uncle Buck’s Fish Bowl and Grill is also opening at the Commons in a 20,000 square foot spot. Along with island themed dining, 16 lanes will be available for bowling and the walls will feature large fish tanks of exotic fish. Uncle Buck's is a restaurant concept created by Bass Pro Shops, a big attraction at the Commons.
Also coming our way: Yogo Mogo (more frozen yogurt), Tervis Tumblers, Everything but Water, Charming Charlie, and Sunglass World. Little by little, our small town is creating our own Pier Park, which attracts so many to Panama City. They have a tentative date to open in July and construction is very busy but at least we know it’ll be ready by the end of summer. Then we can all go to H&M for our fall wardrobe.
