This time of year, families are getting together for the holidays, vacations, and anything else while some have time off work. The number 1 spot for family photos in our area is definitely the beach. The Emerald Coast boasts miles of pristine beaches, clear blue-green waters, and sugar white sand. Why wouldn’t you take advantage of the gorgeous natural backdrop during your vacation? The best time for photos is right before sunset and you’ll have the best natural lighting. Line up the family in front of the dunes or have fun splashing your feet in the waves. Not only will it be an ideal family photo for the holidays but a wonderful reminder of your vacation spent together.
Many only think of sandy beaches when they think of Destin. Eden Gardens State Park is a popular park with beautiful greenery away from the beach. Moss-draped live oaks and a historic mansion make a unique and dramatic setting for a photo shoot. Arrange the family on the spacious mansion decks or gather around the gardens. Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy the peaceful area after your photos.
Destin Commons has a number of huge murals around the shopping center that make fun photo backgrounds. Local artists have painted walls in vibrant colors with everything from palm trees and flamingos to giraffes and crabs. Whether you’re a social media influencer, a frequent Destin visitor, or want to take some bold family photos, head to the Commons for great backdrops and plenty of shopping options.
If you want to travel down the road, Seaside and Alys Beach have beautiful neighborhoods and architecture. Head to the town center of Seaside or walk the cobblestone roads in Alys. These are popular sites for exploring and getting great pictures. After some good shots, get some sweet treats nearby or go boutique shopping.
