Beat the Heat this Summer

We were so happy when the temperatures finally went up and the cold weather was over. While we love the beach, some days it just gets way too hot and we need somewhere to cool off. Where might that be? Big Kahuna’s water park is a crowd favorite. With rides and slides, a wave pool and adventure park, it’s no wonder it was voted one of the best waterparks in America by the Travel Channel. Don’t let the view fool you from Highway 98, it may look small but it actually has over 40 water attractions. Check online for ticket discounts and the free bring-a-friend tickets.  

The Destin Commons has the dancing water fountains right next to the playground. It’s rare to walk by the shopping center without seeing a bunch of little kids running through the water and having the time of their life. Send your kids with your husband to play while you check out all the new stores! 

If you’re tired of wet clothes or nursing a sunburn, try Fat Daddy’s Arcade to play tons of games in the air condition. Uncle Buck’s Fishbowl and Grill recently opened and features island and underwater themes with 16 lanes and a billiards room.  

But whatever you decide, it won’t be long until it’s cold again and we will be begging to have summer back. So enjoy these few months, soak up the sun, and take advantage of all the fun places in our area.
