Andi Scurto Wins MKAF Festival of the Arts Poster Contest
Destin, Florida resident Andrea Scurto (AndiArt) is the 2015 winner of the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation (MKAF) festival poster contest. Each year, an art contest is held to promote the Festival of the Arts. The winning design is showcased on the official festival poster, festival guide, website, and more. Scurto’s quirky design of a colorful giraffe riding a large vintage bicycle is the winning illustration for the upcoming event.
Scurto is a self-taught mixed media artist with a whimsical style. You can see some of her work on the side of Destin Elementary School. The faded dolphin mural that had previously graced the side of the school has been replaced with a bright and colorful painting of creative animal and educational scenes. Scurto kindly donated her time and talent to give back to the Destin community.
This is the MKAF’s 20th anniversary and the festival is one of the most anticipated cultural events of the year in Northwest Florida. This year’s event will be October 24th and 25th at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. We look forward to seeing more AndiArt and over 100 other premier artists from around the country with original works. Many take advantage of Destin condo rentals in the vicinity to enjoy the full weekend of events.
